Our expedition through Egypt will give you a completely unique and historical journey! We start in Cairo – a modern and lively city with a glorious ancient past.
Step back over 5000 years and see the awe-inspiring sight of the pyramids. Take in the iconic statue of the Great Sphinx and learn about the first capital city of ancient Egypt.
We will also visit the Egyptian Museum and marvel at the antiquities from the various dynasties that ruled Egypt including the riches recovered from the tomb of Tutankhamen. We even get to see a real mummy- spooky. And of course experience shopping Egypt style
at the famous Khan El Khalili bazaar.
We then fly to Luxor – the eternal capital of Upper Egypt. Luxor in ancient times was the centre of power for over 1500 years. The Valley of the Kings, the Temples of Hatshepsut and Karnak are all based here. Here we will get to experience the most amazing HD Sound and Light Show at the Karnak Temple.
Then down the Nile we go on a ship that has panoramic wall to wall windows allowing us to take in the scenery of lush green countryside to ancient tombs and temples. We will have a chance to see Luxor from the sky in a Hot Air Balloon Ride. There are many amazing
ancient cities we stop at. Edfu has the glorious temple of Horus.
In Aswan we will experience a mixture of both modern and ancient constructions and see Aswan’s High Dam, Philae Temple and unfinished obelisk. It will give us an insight into ancient Egyptian stone working technique, construction and engineering. We will spend an
afternoon sailing down the Nile in their traditional boats feluccas, close to the river banks and watch the daily life of the Egyptians pass us by..
After our 4 night cruise, we will fly to Abu Simbel. We will learn about the fascinating history of the Temples of Ramses II and Queen Nefertari including the UNESCO rescue operation;
the temples were relocated block by block as it was threatened by the rising waters of Lake Nasser.
Lastly we will make our way to Sharm El Sheikh so we can visit St Catherine’s Monastery – a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This monastery is one of the oldest working Christian monasteries in the world. This area is also said to be where Moses received the 10
commandments from God and saw the burning bush.
We will also get a chance to climb Mount Sinai, where the monastery is situated and experience an amazing sunset.
Egypt is full of fascinating history. The ancient world of mummies, pharaohs, gods and goddess, pyramids, temples and much more is waiting to blow your mind!
